ALBAWABA - Trump has expressed his desire to see Gianni Infantino as the UN’s Secretary General, saying he’s ‘well-liked’ internationally and therefore could pull it off.
It seems that the FIFA peace prize Infantino gave to Trump as a replacement when he didn’t win the Nobel peace prize has finally cashed in with Trump now wanting to see Infantino as the next UN Secretary General.
The two men go back to when the U.S. was decided to host the World Cup, working together over the years leading up to it and developing a bromance in the process. ‘Trump believes Infantino is respected by everyone around the world, and recognizes that he has a special ability to bring people together.’ Sources said.
As for the reality of the situation, Guterres, the current UN Secretary General is set to retire from the position at the end of the year, leaving the spot vacant; and to become Secretary General of the UN, by law you cannot have any prior experience with the UN.
Infantino checks these boxes, but he’s not quite there yet as he has to have the endorsement of the 15 members of the UN Security Council, without neglecting the five permanent members who hold the power of veto; China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States.
