Conrad Cairo Flicks The Switch To Support Earth Hour

Published April 4th, 2010 - 08:10 GMT

Conrad Cairo has joined the global environmental initiative “Earth Hour” as more than a billion people and organisations around the world turned off lights in a bid to challenge climate change.

Conrad Cairo pulled the plug on non essential electrical lighting in the hotel encouraging guests to switch off their room lights and enjoy candlelit dinners.

Taking a further step, an elegant one hour cocktail reception was hosted in the lobby switching off the lights and switching on awareness for this global initiative. The lobby was lit up with over 1000 organic candles and filled with soft piano tunes to create a luxury experience that was well received by hotel guests and team members.

Kevin Brett, Conrad Cairo General Manager said, “We are delighted to participate in WWF’s Earth Hour for the third consecutive year. This action truly reflects our enduring commitment to the cause of energy conservation and environmental preservation. Earth Hour presents us with an opportunity to interact and involve our guests and team members in a very simple yet impactful campaign, simultaneously improving our efficiencies and environmental practices whilst re-iterating our commitment to the local community.”
