The winners of the annual young writers contest were invited recently to the Farah hotel in Rabat in order to receive their awards. The contest is an annual event which has been held by the Moroccan association of writers (UEM) since 1994. It was first organized by Mohamed Achâari, than minister of culture and now the head of the UEM. The aim of the contest is to encourage young writers to produce new materials.

According to Aujourd'hui, the contest includes four categories: poetry, short story, theatre play and romance. Each year the winner in the various categories receives a symbolic amount of money and his work is published by the UEM.
