CROWNE PLAZA SALALAH IS AWARDED TOP HONOURS FOR BEST RENOVATION

InterContinental Hotels Group, the world’s most global hotel company, announced today that Crowne Plaza Resort Salalah has been awarded top honours by InterContinental Hotels’ Group for the ‘Best Renovation’ in the Europe Middle East and Africa Region - a region which comprises of more than 800 hotels & resorts.

“Our Investment in the Crowne Plaza Resort Salalah is part of a long term strategy that underscores our confidence in Salalah’s appeal as a premier tourist destination, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank the Ministry of Finance & the Ministry of Tourism for their continuous support towards the resort, Dhofar region and the Sultanate of Oman,” said Sheikh Salim Awfait.

Commenting on the accolade, Edward Chaaya, General Manager, Crowne Plaza Resort Salalah, said: “We are delighted at being recognized, and above all winning the prize. The standard of competition was extremely high, and we have worked continuously hard to maintain our high qualities of service and product. To be awarded this prize is tremendous. Without the watchful eye, leadership and attention to details from Sheikh Salim Awfait Al Shanfari, Chairman of the Salalah Hotels Company, Board of Directors and General Manager, we would not have been able to achieve such recognition.”

Sheikh Salim Awfait Al Shanfari, Chairman of Salalah Hotels Company received the award from Mr. A. Antonio Zamora, Director of Operations – InterContinental Hotels Group Oman, in the presence of board member Mr. Mohamed Ali Said, General Manager Mr. Edward Chaaya & Ms. Pauline Berge, Area Director of Sales & Marketing Oman.

The chic property, re-branded and rebuilt at a cost of OMR 10 million, stretching over 32 acres of lush greenery and featuring a 9 Hole Par 3 Golf Course is owned by the Salalah Hotels Company, a government entity. All 153 guest rooms, including two Royal Suites and seven Deluxe Suites, are luxuriously appointed, as are the resorts’ 19, 3-bedroom villas.

“The Crowne Plaza Resort Salalah is a brand new resort, with an added variety of Suites catering to the higher bracket of upmarket tourists, we also see ourselves as a showcase for the local & regional and foreign investment into Salalah,” explained Chaaya
