Daesh (ISIS) has claimed responsibility for Sinai attacks on Egyptian soldiers, saying that three suicidal operations were done and more than 15 synchronized attacks.
Egyptian security sources said Wednesday at least 70 soldiers were killed in five synchronized attacks on military points, one of them by an explosive car south to Shiekh Zuweid in North Sinai. Daesh militants said in a statement posted online they were also able to take over military equipment and weapons.
Almayadeen Channel reported an extremist planted explosive devices surrounding the police station in Sheikh Zuweid to stop any support. A journalist reported seeing supporting troops marching toward North Sinai.
Sinai has seen a series of attacks targeting security forces, many of them claimed by Daesh affiliate Velayet Sinai, formerly known as Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis.
