Damas unfurls Pequignet’s much awaited baselworld 2009 novelties!

Presents the new Moorea Triomphe in two versions – 44mm Automatic Swiss Chronograph for men and the 38mm Swiss quartz chronograph for women

Damas the world renowned jewelery and watch retailer presents Pequignet’s much awaited Baselworld 2009 novelties – Moorea Triomphe presented in two versions, the impressive 44mm Automatic Swiss Chronograph in 316L steel and black PVD and the stylish 38mm Ladies Swiss quartz chronograph in 18k rose gold and case inset with white lacquer and ceramic pushers. Also presented at the prestigious event was Pequignet’s own ‘basic’ movement - the MVT 1111 - an original ‘house’ calibre bringing together precision, performance and reliability and marking a milestone in the history of this acclaimed French watch brand.
Tawhid Abdullah, Managing Director of Damas commented: “Exclusivity forms the core of this award winning, independent French watch brand Pequignet, whose founding principles are the highest horological standards. This combined with French design elements sets the brand apart, placing it alongside top Swiss luxury brands and with the development of its own ‘basic’ movement - the MVT 1111 - the first prototypes of which were presented most fittingly at this year’s Basel fair along with its two new watch models, it is the renaissance of the French manufacture.”
Dashing good looks and detail define Pequignet’s Moorea Triumphe Automatic Swiss Chronograph combining the metallic sheen of steel with black rubber to present a retro-effect. Its round shaped case is crafted in 316L steel with black PVD and a bezel marked with Roman numerals. Placed at the 3, 6 and 9 indices are subsidiary dials with a date window at 4 and with screw down crown. Enclosed by a non-reflecting sapphire crystal, this smart Pequignet model can be strapped on by a natural rubber and steel Moorea bracelet with double folding buckle.

Exuding pure luxury and sophistication is the Moorea Triomphe 38mm Swiss Quartz Chronograph for women, which is presented in a combination of blushing tones of 18k rose gold with white lacquer and white ceramic. Its round 18k rose gold case has a white lacquer inset, white ceramic pushers and crown and white lacquer bezel with 18k rose gold Roman numerals marked on it. A non reflecting sapphire crystal and a chic natural rubber bracelet with double folding buckle add the perfect finishing touch.

Based in Morteau, this brand was founded by Emile Pequignet in 1973 and established itself by the sheer strength of its founder’s talent, knowledge and style sense as well as his love for equestrian sports. In 2004 it was taken over by Didier Leibundgut who is also from Morteau. Its watches enjoy a growing fan following due to their famous ‘Pequignet links’ made of movable segments that are a decorative feature and a signature element of the brand. Pequignet has walked away with the prestigious Cadran d'Or (Golden Dial Awards), considered to be the Oscars of the watchmaking industry, an astonishing five times in the Prestige and Luxury category and the brand is often hailed for bringing a touch of haute couture to the world of watch designs.

Constant evolution has marked Pequignet’s progress with the brand refocussing its collection around 5 or 6 flagship lines – Moorea, Cameleone, Sorella, Lady, Massaï – which have been largely renewed, while chronographs are the brand’s specialty.

Pequignet’s stunning Baselworld 2009 watch novelties are now available at Damas Les Exclusive Boutiques in Saks Fifth Avenue, Dubai Mall, Madinat Jumeirah, Radisson SAS, Dubai Festival City, Deira City Centre and in Abu Dhabi at Abu Dhabi Mall, Khalidiyah Mall and Al Wahada Mall.
