A 26 year old lawyer has died in Turkey as a result of the clashes between protesters and the Turkish government, his family lawyer said Thursday.

The death of Ether Sarisuluk, who had been on life support for days, was hit in the head with a tear gas canister during Ankara protests on June 1st, was pronounced dead on Thursday morning.

Sarisuluk's death brings the death toll of the two-week clashes between anti-government protesters and Turkish riot police to five.

A human rights group says thousands of people were treated for injuries in protests that began May 3, according to AP.
