The Department of Economic Development (DED) announced that all procedures related to business registration including processing, renewal and amendments of trade licences were functioning efficiently.
The DED, yesterday, conducted a pilot run of its next generation trade licence system, which has been designed to improve existing business processes. It will introduce the DED's services to customers over the Internet and mobile phone in a phased manner, via the validation of DED’s new multi-delivery channel system.
"The DED is constantly on the lookout for ways and means to upgrade and enhance existing procedures for business registration in order to provide value-added services to its customers, with the aim of reducing transaction time and cost," said Khalid Al Kassim, Deputy Director General for Planning and Development, DED. "The system is based on the Application Service Provider (ASP) model and will provide 24 x 7 online business registration services for customers. The Department will act as the service provider for other license and economic regulatory authorities in Dubai," he added
"During its pilot run yesterday, the DED faced a few challenges related to existing trade licences data, as the new system incorporates trade licence and commercial register information in an improved manner. The Department would like to apologise to its customers for any inconvenience that was caused yesterday," he added.
The DED also announced that its business registration counters would remain open for an extra hour everyday from 1:30pm to 2:30pm till Wednesday, September 28, 2005, in order to facilitate customers, who were unable to complete their business registration procedures yesterday.
DED customers are welcome to contact the department for any issues regarding business registration by calling 2020161.
