Dell announces winner of Abu Dhabi men’s college green it competition
Dell today announced the winner of the Green IT essay competition launched in association with the Abu Dhabi Men’s College (ADMC) for Higher College Technology to raise awareness of the opportunities to improve energy efficiency in the Middle East.
The winner, Sultan Mohamed Ahmed Salem Saleh Al Ameri, was selected by a Dell team and received a Dell Latitude E6400 laptop. His essay focused on energy conservation in data centers and IT-based strategies for reducing environmental impact of business and residential developments.
Dell held the competition as part of a wider strategy to promote energy efficiency in the region. The company recently launched a range of new Efficient Enterprise products and solutions that have been designed not only to improve manageability in data center environments and reduce maintenance requirements, but to reduce energy consumption offering a greener, cost-cutting solution.
“Raising the awareness of green issues in the region is essential as it still remains low on the agenda for many businesses. Dell’s work with the ADMC on initiatives such as the Green IT competition serve to highlight the importance of these matters, particularly amongst students who will be shaping our future, are a step in the right direction,” said Souraya El-Ghawi, Large Enterprise marketing manager, Dell Middle East. “The high level of response that we received from students and the knowledge they demonstrated was very promising and suggests that the next generation in the Emirates will spearhead Green IT in the region.”
