A biochemist detained in Egypt in connection with the London bombing attacks has denied playing any role in these. Magdy el Nashar, who is suspected of helping to make the bombs, on Friday was questioned by Egyptian police.
Authorities believed he left Britain two weeks before the London explosions on July 7. An Egyptian official said: "El Nashar denied having any relation with the latest events in London."
The 33-year-old was detained several days ago, according to the official, SkyNews reported. He was detained in a suburb of Cairo following a worldwide search involving the FBI, Interpol and other agencies.
He is said to have travelled to Egypt from London on holiday and had intended to go back to Britain to continue his studies at Leeds University.
