DHL Bahrain, the leading express and logistics provider, recently welcomed back from their trip to Kenya, its top performers for the year 2006. The seven best achievers were named at the annual Employee of the Year Awards Ceremony held recently in the kingdom.
The trip to Kenya is a reward for a total of 37 employees from 15 countries around the Middle East who were named outstanding employees of the year in their markets. The employees awarded are highest achievers and were previously nominated as employees of the month during 2006.
The winners of the Employee of the Year award were Zainab Ismail Hamza and Ali Fakhrawi from the Bahrain Hub, and Jassim Mohammed from Bahrain Country Office. Dina Nabil, from the Bahrain Country Office, was awarded the Sales Person of the Year award, and the winners of the Outstanding Achiever award were Milan Modi and Sabrina Deniel from the Middle East Area Office, and Ajith Pethiyagoda from the Bahrain Hub.
Speaking at the awards, Nour Suliman, DHL Bahrain General Manager said: “We are always keen on recognising and showing our appreciation to our employees for going the extra mile to serve our customers quickly and efficiently.”
In line with DHL’s policy to foster and reward excellence, the finalists for the prestigious Employee of the Year award included employees of the month, extra milers and people automatically nominated through receiving customer appreciation letters. Moreover, salespersons of the quarter winners were nominated for the Salesperson of the Year, while out of the overall selected nominees two extra awards were presented; the Operations Person of the Year and the Outstanding Achiever of the year.
When nominating employees, the DHL management team not only considers the employees’ levels of performance, but also recognises their customer service excellence, passion towards achievement and demonstration of DHL’s core values.
Basil Al Azem, Area Human Resources Development Manager at DHL Hub said: “To show our appreciation to our employees and reward them for their achievements, we took them on an all expenses once in a lifetime paid trip to Kenya where they spent five days of fun and relaxation. In addition, each winner was presented with a trophy, a certificate, a travel bag full of goodies and a cash prize. We hope our incentives and rewards will continue to strengthen our employees’ levels of performance and recognise each step on their path to success.”
The safari trip to Kenya included daily Game Drives, a visit to Masai Mara Village and a hot air balloon safari. DHL employees also visited a public school in the Masai Mara where they presented the children with a donation of school supplies and other gifts, in line with the DHL corporate value of Accepting Social Responsibilities.
