"Algiers - scenes from the other side", is a new documentary by Jean Asselmeyer on the Algerian capital and its habitants. According to <i>Liberate Algeria</i>, the movie is based on a kind of architectural tour in the city, accompanied by a series of interesting meetings with its prominent artists and cultural figures (singers, poets, directors, painters etc.).
According to the newspaper, "it is a tender, yet honest, look on Algiers and Algerians free of all the usual clichés." Rather than looking for "blood and tears", the movie focuses on ordinary life in the city and on the hopes and aspirations of its people. The film can be watched at the French Cultural Center in Algiers.
