DQG organizes Benchmarking Program

Dubai: Benchmarking subgroup, one of Dubai Quality Group's (DQG) subgroups, is organizing today a benchmarking visit to "Dubai Ports World" and "Jumeirah Group", in cooperation with Dubai Holding. The event, with its focus on Human Resource Management, supported by Dubai Holding, is the 2nd of its kind organized by the subgroup this year.

The four-day program, which uses the EFQM Excellence Model as its base, will bring together several establishments, companies and governmental departments, as it sheds light on effective human resource management practices with regards to planning, training, communication, empowerment and recognition, used by the host organizations.

Mr. Ali Fadhlani, Chairman of Benchmarking Subgroup and the key organizer of benchmarking programs at Dubai Holding & DQG, stressed the importance of these training programs as they achieve direct and effective results in enhancing quality standards and enable the sharing knowledge among local organizations.

"This training program will enhance the HR initiatives in participating organizations and help them adopt concepts of excellence to achieve best results in the field of human resource management." said Mr. Fadhlani
"The program has been carefully planned to increase the participant's awareness on how local organizations implement successful standards in planning and managing human resources to achieve its goals," he added.
On his part, Mr. Mohammed Ali Ahmed, Director of Strategic Planning, Human Resources and Business Support, DP World, UAE Region, said:" the DP World's participation in this program comes in line with our keenness to develop our human cadres to achieve the highest levels of efficiency and excellence."

This participation also demonstrates our awareness of the role of human resources management in developing the business environment, its mechanisms and the quality of its services, he added.

Ahmad pointed to the success of strategies and management ways adopted by the DP world in placing DP World among key players on the global economic map.

He added:" the success of these strategies gained recognition from international organizations which selected DP World as the world's first marine terminal operator and the first company in the Middle East to be awarded the 'Recognized for Excellence 5 Star Rating' by the EFQM for its flagship Jebel Ali Port.

Tim Savage, Chief Human Resources Officer at Jumeirah Group commented: “Jumeirah Group is proud to support Dubai Quality Group with this initiative. As a home-grown company in the UAE, we are keen to share our knowledge and skills with the wider business community in mutually beneficial arrangements which will also provide the opportunity to strengthen and build new partnerships.”

“At Jumeirah we have the development of our colleagues as one of our key priorities; we regard involvement in such benchmarking exercises as a means of adding knowledge and therefore value to them which assists our efforts to retain them in the Group.” he added.

DP World is one of the largest marine terminal operators in the world with 49 marine terminals* and 12 new developments across 31 countries.
