Dubai Chamber organizes licensing agreements workshop
Held in association with Licensing Executives Society – Arab Countries, the two-day training course provided participants with means of tackling new trends of drafting and negotiating agreements
A two-day workshop entitled “Drafting and Negotiating Licensing Agreements” was organized by Dubai Chamber in association with the Licensing Executives Society – Arab Countries at the Sheraton Creek Hotel in Dubai on May 24-25.
The intensive training course provided participants with a variety of issues on tackling the new trends of drafting and negotiating licensing agreements in various sectors. The workshop was attended by legal professionals including attorneys, paralegals and license administrators as well as business people who want both an advantage in negotiations and more efficiency when working with legal professionals on licenses.
Jehad Kazim, Director, Legal Services Department, Dubai Chamber, informed that the workshop was organized in line with the Chamber’s strategic objective of supporting the development of business.
Said Jehad, “The workshop enabled the participants to understand the various elements of a license and its importance in the writing of an agreement. It also empowered them with the means to negotiate licenses effectively and to track license performance efficiently in the business environment of Dubai.”
She added that the attendees also learnt how to recognize the value of a good license agreement, its drafting techniques by picking and using new negotiation methods for the situation and to establish negotiating environments that increase positive outcomes.
The current training course complements the efforts of the Chamber in organizing seminars and workshops that are useful for businesses in Dubai as the Chamber has planned a number of workshops and seminars for the year which will follow on the success of the training courses held earlier on legal protection of consumers from counterfeiting, and copyright and contiguous rights that had been organized on the occasion of the World Intellectual Property Day.
