Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Oxford Business Group, the leading UK-based publishing, research and consultancy service, to jointly publish “The Report: Dubai 2007” . The detailed English language publication will provide an analysis of the macroeconomic trends in Dubai along with an assessment of the key sectors of Dubai’s economy
The agreement was signed by HE Engineer Hamad Mubarak Buamim, Director General of Dubai Chamber, and Sonja Gehlsen, Country Director of Oxford Business Group. Heads of some departments at the Dubai Chamber also attended the MoU signing ceremony.
Buamim said that the new publication, to be published by Oxford Business Group in association with Dubai Chamber as a co-publisher, will be a significant tool which introduces the economic development features and investment opportunities available in Dubai to investors and businessmen worldwide. The review also underscores the pillars of Dubai government’s strategy to foster comprehensive growth. It also offers briefs on the mega development projects carried out in Dubai, he added.
He pointed out that the new publication also provides the latest data and statistics on the key sectors of Dubai’s economy, such as banking, capital markets, insurance, tourism, energy, real estate and construction, and information technology but also Islamic finance and health and education.
“Dubai Chamber’s joint effort in preparing ‘The Report: Dubai 2007’ goes in line with its strategy and vision to provide information on the development process in Dubai. Needless to say, most of the Chamber’s Board members are prominent businessmen who have significantly contributed to shaping Dubai’s economy,” said Buamim.
In addition, exclusive interviews with renowned businessmen and investors from Dubai elaborating on their successful businesses will add more value to the report, Buamim added. It will also provide some information on the Dubai Strategic Plan 2015 which was announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Sonja Gehlsen, Country Director of Oxford Business Group, expressed her company’s interest in publishing ‘The Report: Dubai 2007”, and stressed the important role Dubai Chamber could play by sharing information, statistics and economic analyses on the activities of the business community and other economic sectors, on top of the Chamber’s key role in securing the interviews with Dubai businessmen who highly contributed to the economic development of the emirate.
“We expect the report to be a worthwhile source of information on Dubai’s economy which will be useful for all those interested in learning about Dubai’s achievements and its future development projects,” said Gehlsen.
