Dubai Customs prepared to begin operation at Terminal 3 of Dubai international Airport
Dubai Customs successfully completed operational trial at Terminal 3 of Dubai international Airport.
This comes as part of Dubai Customs consistent preparations for the official opening of Terminal 3 and to see its manpower capability for carrying out their duties when the new Terminal is operational.
Field exercises have been conducted in collaboration with many relevant government organizations in Dubai by providing all operational trial requirements for simulating virtual operation.
It was a real opportunity for testing Customs team preparedness and bringing into view its capacity in interacting effectively with passengers and baggage at the new terminal.
Inspection equipment and devices have been examined and Customs team could detect all prohibited items that randomly concealed in some baggage as pre-arranged with some cooperative passengers through Airports Operations Management.
Following the successful 4 operational trials, Dubai Customs declared completion of all preparations and its willingness to begin operation at the new terminal once opened.
Best international practices and standards are set to be adopted for detecting prohibited items at the new terminal. Inspectors have been trained on how to deal with the 14th new equipment being the best of their kind worldwide dedicated to inspect and examine small and large sized baggage contents.
As part of securing best, swift and quality customs service, a special section have been created at the new terminal for clearing gold, jewellery, diamond and precious stones cargos.
In a related story, Dubai Customs celebrated the graduation of the second batch of inspectors who took part in the Command and Control course organized in collaboration with Dubai Police Headquarters.
The graduates are set to constitute the foremost part of the “Operations and Control Room” activities established by Dubai Customs Airports Operations Management at Terminal 3.
The 30 inspectors attended a 3 week intensive training organized in collaboration with Dubai Police Headquarters, a key strategic stakeholder. They have been trained on how to keep pace with the great development at Terminal 3 that fitted with high-tech control and monitoring devices.
The training focused on developing inspectors’ sense of security and concentration thereof, how to use wireless devices (TATRA) and identifying place and body languages with suspects as well as delivering a comprehensive study on kinds of narcotics, remote control using modern cameras and other professional skills.
The new terminal has been linked to the Customs central Control Room by cameras, the most recent of their kind in the region mainly focusing on follow-up, control and coordination with different inspection points in Airport round the clock.
A dedicated team would secure control and inspection operations through shift system each shift comprises of 13 inspectors divided into two teams.
The first team consisting of 8 officers shall conduct a 20 minute swift scanning.
The Second team comprising of well trained 8 officers on handling passengers and baggage would carry out a 4 minute scanning aiming to seize prohibited items.
Following Dubai Customs effort to maintain the employee’s health and comfort from one hand and enhancing his concentration on the other, employees operating on equipment and devices would be changed every 40 minutes and given 40 minutes break as well. This would ensure highest performance levels based on most recent business mechanisms in this respect.
