Dubai Customs takes part in the Security Education Week
Dubai – Dubai Customs took part in the security education week held from 2 – 5 March 2009 by Dubai Police in collaboration with the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, Ministry of Education and a number of sports clubs in Dubai aiming at inculcating concept of security education in students minds in a way serving the public interest.
Dubai Customs participated by organizing a special Intellectual Property Right (IPR) exhibition at Umm Suqiam Preparatory School included, seminars, IPR educational films and ways of differentiating between unique and counterfeited products.
The showcasing tackled as well awareness about dangers of fake products on public health and safety while bulletins detailing the same issue were given out.
Mr. Yousif Ozair, Senior Manager of IPR at Dubai Customs said: “Dubai Customs used to take part in different civic bodies` activities being held as part of their role in achieving social development in Dubai.”
“Our participation by this exhibition comes as part of Dubai Customs` social and educational role in disseminating awareness among the new generation about different customs core business particularly IPR concept, importance of not infringing upon human rights and how to encounter fraud and counterfeiting attempts through explaining similarities and differences between unique and counterfeited products”, he added.
Dubai Customs takes a special interest in IPR where a dedicated department, the first of its kind in the Middle East, was established in 2005 pacing with the country’s policy, commitment to international agreements and conventions, interest in protecting intellectual and industrial property rights and keeping consumers away from all forms of fraud and exploitation that aim at making quick earnings regardless to human’s health and security.
