Implementation of Blackboard Academic Suite, Smartboard and English language laboratories set to benefit PMU students

Edutech Middle East, a leading provider of technology-enabled learning solutions, has announced that it has completed the implementation of an extensive eLearning system to benefit students of the Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University (PMU) in Saudi Arabia. As a part of the University’s plan to utilise a complete Course Management System throughout its campus, Edutech configured and installed ‘Blackboard Academic Suite’ and deployed ‘Smartboard’ technology. In addition, fully-equipped English language laboratories with internally-linked computers, access to Internet and touch-screen controls, were also made operational by Edutech consultants.

In order to design a complete turnkey solution extending beyond its present range of products, Edutech analyzed PMU’s academic area, student interests and environment to determine the challenges of the university and the students’ needs. As a result of this intensive study, Edutech has implemented an extensive Learning Management System, which provides the right set of navigational tools for faculty and students to access learning resources, in combination with the latest speech recognition and video technologies to aid students in learning English language.

“The Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University aspires to be one of the leading contributors to the Kingdom’s development, by ensuring that our students possess the right set of competencies and technical knowledge to face the country’s development challenges. With this in mind, we have partnered with Edutech to design a comprehensive customised learning system, which will complement our academic program. We are positive that the highly effective technologies that Edutech has provided us will largely aid PMU in producing professionals, who will comprise the region’s future leaders in different sectors of society,” said Dr. Nassar M Shaikh, Vice Rector, Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University.

Prior to the installation, Edutech had constructed a pilot set-up closely resembling the production environment in PMU where the technical team configured, tested and observed software implementation and student responses to refine configuration and ensure readiness for a full-scale deployment. As a result, the successful launch of the new system has facilitated an interactive and pleasurable learning experience for both teachers and students, thereby generating wide-scale popularity among the PMU community.

“Edutech has acquired vast experience in helping enhance the academic sector’s performance by designing and deploying state-of-the art learning solutions and technologies capable of keeping up with the pace of both global and regional demands in educational solutions,” said ASF Karim, Managing Director, Edutech. “We recognise the rapid development of Saudi Arabia’s market and its move towards an open economy, which compelled us to assign a dedicated team to understand the requirements of the Saudi market. It brings us pride to have been a part of Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University’s move to supply the country’s substantial need for proficient graduates.”

Edutech Middle East enables academic institutions and business enterprises such as petrochemical industries, banking and financial, manufacturing, healthcare and hospitality and Government and defense to meet their learning and knowledge needs. Edutech combines years of experience with technology and content to deliver rapidly deployable knowledge solutions thereby enabling faster learning cycles, increasing access to information, and reducing cost, efforts and investments. It helps organizations build, manage and measure learning outcomes by providing solutions based on the comprehensive Knowledge Solutions framework that blends content and infrastructure into a single and seamless solution.
“With the increased demand for eLearning and technology-enhanced learning modules, we are moving closer towards our goal satisfying the growing need for interactive and rich media content to improve current learning experiences. We are confident that more universities will follow the lead of PMU and integrate our technologies into their existing systems, particularly our regional-specific solutions such as the recently launched Arabic-enabled version of Blackboard Academic Suite,” concluded Karim.
