EEA award’s ceremony to be launched tomorrow in Dubai

Under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice President, prime minister and ruler of Dubai, Emirates Energy Award (EEA) is preparing to launch its final award’s ceremony tomorrow, Tuesday, at the Raffles Hotel in Dubai, where winners of 2009 cycle will be awarded.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Dubai Airports, the honorary patron of Dubai Quality Group, will attend the final ceremony of the EEA, where H. H Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum will honor the winners of the six categories; energy award for governmental organizations, energy award for private organizations, energy engineer award, big energy projects award, small energy projects award, and research and education award. Moreover, His Highness will honor the sponsors and individuals who have contributed to the success of the award’s events.

This initiative comes as one of the steps pursued by Dubai Quality Group (DQG) to promote regional awareness of the importance of optimal use of energy, and at the same time urged individuals and companies to switch for renewable and clean energy sources so as to contribute in energy and environment conservation.

Since the launch of the award in last September, the committee of EEA toured the GCC countries where they met with ministers of energy and oil to clarify the objectives and participation mechanisms of the award to urge individuals, governmental and private sectors to participate in order to create greater effectiveness of the award at the GCC countries, especially as the GCC countries are one of the world's most energy consumptive.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, hosted a delegation of DQG recently, where he met Dr. Wafi Dawood, chairman of DQG, and Mrs. Samia Al Yousuf, Executive Director of DQG. EEA events, which are organized annually by DQG, as well as new plans for the next session, were discussed during the meeting.
