Egypt's Administrative Judicial Court ordered the Minister of the Interior to submit to the cabinet to decide the requests for revoking the Egyptian citizenship from Egyptians married to Israelis. According to Al Masry elYoum newspaper, Chancellor Dr. Mohamed Attia, the head of the administrative courts, conveyed that marrying Israelis with the intention to get residence there has spread among the Egyptians who went to Israel looking for a job. He explained that the country must curb this phenomenon which is seriously threatening Egyptian national security.
The report added that the Court called on the Minister of the Interior to submit the requests for revoking the nationality from those individuals, as it cannot be withdrawn from the children of an Egyptian unless it is withdrawn from their fathers.
There is no official data on the number of Egyptians in Israel. According to some Egyptian deputies, the number is put at some 15,000. however, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry insists less than 1000 Egyptians have settled in the Jewish state. Nearly two years ago, the Israeli Statistics Agency, stated that 10,000 Egyptian men are married to Israeli women.
