Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Maher said Sunday that the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories was dangerous, and called on the international community to take responsibility for easing the tension.

Maher told the press that Egypt had warned Israel against its actions, but Israel had not listened.

“That’s why it was important to inform the five permanent members of the UN Security Council about the dangerous situation there,” he said, cited by the official Kuwaiti news agency, KUNA.

"We are only sticking to our rights, and the UN resolutions support us," said the Egyptian minister.

He stressed that his country had maintained intensive contacts with a number of Arab and Islamic countries to face the Israelis' "provocative actions."

The minister added that Egypt had sent a clear message to the ambassadors of the five permanent members countries of the UN Security Council, urging them to take responsibility for facing the "dangerous Israeli provocation."

Morocco’s King Mohammad has also made intensive contacts to face the Israeli escalation. The monarch is the president of the Al Quds Committee, which is dedicated to preserving Jerusalem's Muslim and Arab heritage.

The king has urged the international community to immediately take action against Israel’s "aggression against the Palestinians" – Albawaba.com
