Egyptian Intelligence chief on behalf of Mubarak: No security for Egypt until Palestinians gain rights

In a speech before the Palestinian Legislative Council on Tuesday on behalf of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, Chief of Egyptian Intelligence Omar Sulaiman said that Egypt would not enjoy security as long as Palestinians remained under Israeli threat.

Sulaiman added that until Palestinians could reclaim their legitimate national rights, Egypt would have no relief, according to RNA.

The Intelligence Chief reaffirmed Egyptian support for the Palestinian cause, and specifically the completion of a comprehensive Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, and for the establishment of a Palestinian state.

Referring to the Rafah Crossing in to Egypt, soon to be the only link between Gaza and the outside world, Sulaiman asserted the importance of future cooperation and communication between Palestinians and Egyptians.

“Your great people has the right to see an end of suffering and to see prisoners back in their homes” he said.

Sulaiman praised the performance of the Palestinian Authority following the death of late President Yasser Arafat, and said that the Palestinian people have a right to live in freedom “on its homeland Palestine”.
