At least eight Egyptians were injured, including three police officers, when Libyan border guards opened fire with pellet bullets at a checkpoint on Sunday night.

The firing started after Libyan border guards prevented an Egyptian truck from Saloum from entering the country and set it on fire.

Three police officers were injured while trying to end the resulting clashes.

The border was temporarily closed as a result, according to an official source at Saloum land port.
