Employment Prospects Greater For Post Graduates

Research Shows Further Education Enhances Career Prospects
Across Industry Sectors

New research conducted by The Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) in the UK has shown that local and international students who stay on in education to gain a masters degree fare better in the job market.

The study revealed that 23 per cent of workers with first degrees were working in non-graduate jobs three years after completing their courses compared to only seven per cent of workers with postgraduate degrees working in non-graduate jobs.

The British University in Dubai (BUiD) will attend the Gulf Education and Training Exhibition (GETEX-Careers) to showcase their world-class education, training and research opportunities to UAE nationals and expatriates looking to advance their career path.

“GETEX –Careers is an exceptional platform for BUiD to sell its world-class education, training and research opportunities and provides a chance for employers to search for talented individuals and graduates to explore work opportunities” said Dr Abdullah Alshamsi, Vice-Chancellor of BUiD.

BUiD offers fulltime and part-time Masters Degree programmes and continuing professional development courses in industry sectors relevant to the region including business, informatics, education and engineering. All BUiD programmes have accreditation eligibility from the UAE Ministry of Education and Scientific Research.

GETEX is the largest education exhibition in the Middle East and Asia and focuses on student recruitment, education equipment, technology, careers and training. In the UAE, GETEX is hosted under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Nahayan Bin Mubarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and will be held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from 2nd  – 5th  April 2008.

“Increasingly, students are looking to stay on at university to develop their professional expertise and improve their post-graduate job prospects. Most of the students at BUiD already have full-time jobs and are often supported by their employers,” added Dr Al Shamsi.

Offering international standards of education through links with parent universities in the United Kingdom, BUiD is the first regional institution that was set up to propel research-based educational programs and courses.
