Energy Management Services (EMS), the leading energy management and energy conservation company in the Middle East, has urged owners of real estate properties, residential, industrial and commercial establishments in the UAE, to reduce their energy consumption by adopting various energy saving solutions.
The call from EMS comes at a time when the real estate market in the country is witnessing a major boom, with a range of commercial and residential developments coming up across the UAE. Reduction in energy consumption will not only result in significant cost savings to the government as well as the consumers, it will also help in conserving valuable resources that are required for power generation.
“UAE’s emergence as one of the leading international destinations for business and tourism has led to the all round growth and development of the country, especially in the construction sector which has been growing at an enviable pace,” said Khaled Bushnaq, Managing Director, Energy Management Services. “The rapid increase in population and the surge in demand for residential, industrial and commercial complexes have resulted in a major increase in electricity consumption, requiring users to adopt measures to ensure maximum efficiency in the use of electricity.”
“The advancements in science and technology today have provided an opportunity for major energy consumers such as malls, factories and residential and commercial buildings to make use of a range of solutions to reduce capital and operational costs by energy conservation and more importantly to prevent wasteful consumption,” he added.
There has been a notable increase in power consumption in the UAE. For instance, according to Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), the power consumption in Dubai in 2004 has increased by 1600 Gigawatt Hours (GWh) compared to 2003. The total power generated in 2004 was 17,263 GWh, of which 16,395 GWh was consumed. Further, DEWA statistics reveal that there were a total of 281,353 customers in 2004, which is a 7.8 per cent increase over 2003.
EMS is driven by the belief that sustained energy management solutions are part of the controllable budgetary expenditure for any organisation. This fact is supported by the actual results EMS achieved by implementing energy management projects in residential and commercial buildings which achieved annual cost savings of up to 35 percent in addition to substantial capital savings in the building construction costs. It specialises in building customised energy management solutions for existing facilities as well as energy optimisation solutions for projects at the design stage. In both categories, EMS clients cover a wide spectrum of user groups, including residential complexes, industries, community centres, commercial complexes, shopping centres and hotels & resorts.
“Energy conservation plays a vital role in protecting the environment as it will slow down the depletion of various non renewable energy resources, thus ensuring their availability for future generations. Our drive to protect the environment fully complements the goal of the UAE Ministry of Electricity and Water in this regard. Our efforts can spread awareness among consumers on the need to reduce energy consumption, and in the process benefit from the resultant cost savings,” added Bushnaq.
EMS offers services such as conducting energy audits to identify appropriate energy saving measures for companies in different sectors, analysis of new facilities to optimise and reduce construction costs and recommending and installing the right energy saving equipments and controls.
