The Center of the Development of Renewable Energies (CDER), in conjunction with several organizations such as UNDP (the Program of the United Nations of Development), the ministry of Energy, and the Department of the Environment, is planning to launch a project for an energy code of effectiveness for the buildings in Morocco. The first impact of the project will be the reduction of the oil consumption of 150,000 tons per year. This project aims at setting up regulations that will require more economic and environmental friendly technologies in the construction of buildings.

Le Matin reports that with this project between 40 and 50 establishments will profit from energy leveling and the greenhouse effects will decrease. “When the power consumption is optimized, the environmental impact is obvious because there is a visible decrease in the greenhouse effects,” says Mohamed Berdai, the General Manager of the CDER.
