Canon Middle East today announces the PIXMA MX850, an Office All-In-One with print, copy, scan and fax capability. Replacing the MP830, the PIXMA MX850 maintains the high quality 1pl 9600dpi FINE print engine specification, while adding additional SoHo (Small office, Home office) functionality. With auto duplex scan and copy, Ethernet connectivity, and a high speed ADF loadable up to 35 sheets, PIXMA MX850 offers small businesses enhanced efficiency and ease-of-use.
Several new features have been added to the PIXMA MX850: Quick Start¹ enables users to start a copy approximately 5 seconds after power up. Auto Image Fix improves the quality of photographs using face detection and scene analysis to optimise areas such as face tone and brightness, colour fogging and over/under exposure. Photographs can be transferred directly to the printer from cameras and similar devices, either using the memory card slots (compatible with most popular formats) or via Bluetooth (with an optional adaptor) or PictBridge.¹

Professional All-In-One productivity
A 35 page duplex ADF is added to the PIXMA MX850 for time-saving convenience when batch scanning/copying and faxing . The integrated duplex unit makes it possible to automatically print and copy on both sides of paper, while two-way paper feeding enables the printer to be loaded with plain and letter headed paper simultaneously.
High quality scanning and copying
For fast, superior quality scans, the PIXMA MX850 incorporates a CIS scanner with 4800 x 9600 dpi resolution and 48/24 bit (in/out) scanning depth for accurate colour reproduction. It offers Push-scan, to send scans to computers over the network, and scan to PDF functions, along with a range of photograph correction features, including Fading correction, Grain correction and Backlight correction.
The PIXMA MX850 takes advantage of Canon’s Dual Colour Gamut Processing Technology for faithful reproduction of colours and text in scanned/photocopied documents and photos. In addition, Auto Intensity (AE)³ copy technology ensures optimal exposure is achieved when copying.
Faxing and networking
The PIXMA MX850’s high-speed Super G3 Fax can be used as a standalone fax or to send faxes out directly from your PC. Capable of transmitting mono or colour documents at a rate of 33.6kbps, the fax also has the capacity to be programmed with up to 100 coded speed dials.
With built in Ethernet (wired LAN) capability, the PIXMA MX850 supports medium-sized and growing businesses, allowing multiple users to share the productive fax, print and scan functions over a local network.

Technologies Explained
FINE (Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering)
Canon's patented FINE semi-conductor manufacturing technique is used to create print heads with exceptionally high nozzle count and density. This enables Canon printers to achieve market-leading print speeds and photo quality for photo and document printing.
The FINE print heads of the PIXMA MX850 achieve virtually grain free photo lab quality by delivering millions of microscopic, 1 picolitre droplets each second with extremely high consistency and accuracy from minimum 9 m diameter Micro-Nozzles.
ChromaLife100
For improved fade resistance, the printer supports Canon’s ChromaLife100: a system of genuine Canon dye-based inks, which deliver an exceptionally broad colour gamut, and Canon photo paper designed to work together with FINE print heads. This technology ‘triangle’ of print head, ink and media produces prints that rival silver halide quality and longevity. Prints resist fading for 100 years when album-stored, 30 years when displayed under glass and 10 years when exposed to the effects of the air.
ContrastPLUS
ContrastPLUS is a FINE print engine using two black inks. The system uses pigment based black ink for sharp text and in addition to three colour dye inks (cyan, magenta and yellow), includes dye based black ink for adding contrast to photos. So whether printing text or photos the All-In-One automatically responds to your needs without changing ink tanks.
Super G3 Fax
Transmitting at 33.6 kbps, a Super G3 fax can send a mono page in a rapid 3 seconds (approximate) and a colour page in approx. 1 minute .
DCG Processing Technology
Dual Colour Gamut Processing Technology optimises faithful colour reproduction in document copying and photo re-printing. The system uses two separate forms of colour rendering to reproduce tones that meet accurately with human perception – ensuring both enhanced colour reproduction and superior text legibility in first and second generation copies.
Auto Intensity (AE) Copy
The AE function pre-scans documents placed on the glass and analyses them to determine the correct image processing parameter for optimum copying. The main correction functions are:
Cleans backgrounds and emphasises characters in text documents
Prevents show-through of images/text from the back side of the sheet
Provides optimised contrast for the image to be printed
Single Ink
The Single Ink tank system minimises waste by ensuring that only individual colours need to be replaced. Each Single Ink tank also has an integrated LED, which flashes at different speeds to indicate low or empty ink levels. This means users can check ink levels without the need for a computer.
PictBridge
PictBridge is an open standard that enables direct photo printing from most digital cameras and digital video camcorders without the need for a PC.
Advanced media handling
Canon’s Advanced Media Handling system provides separate paper trays for plain paper and photo media to allow for easy switching between print jobs. It also incorporates auto duplex (double-sided) printing and integrated DVD/CD printing.
