Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Asia-Pacific Affairs Mohsen Aminzadeh, who is representing Iran at the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-building in Asia (CICA) in Almaty on Tuesday restated his country’s position that Israel is an “illegitimate regime”, the Islamic Republic News Agency reported.
Aminzadeh, in the official document of the conference, stated Iran's “rejection of Israel as a legitimate country”, IRNA said.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran does not recognize Israel as a member of an Asian or any international group and Iran's presence in the CICA conference does not mean its endorsement of Israeli membership or its legitimacy," part of his note read.
The group was formed following Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev’s proposal in 1992, however the conference is currently held for the first time. (Albawaba.com)
