estée lauder introduces a special “art of pleasures”
limited edition artist bottle and candle designed by renowned textile designer
kazumi yoshida of clarence house
Japanese-born Kazumi Yoshida of the luxury textile house, Clarence House, is the second in a series of artists to design a limited edition artist edition bottle that reinterprets the delightful spirit and uplifting femininity of one of Estée Lauder’s best-selling fragrances, pleasures. Adding a new element to the series, Yoshida has also designed a limited edition artist edition pleasures candle to bring this wonderfully uplifting scent into the home.
Since its launch in 1995, Estée Lauder pleasures, a sheer floral fragrance, has embodied the philosophy that life is about simple pleasures. When designing the limited edition pleasures bottle, Yoshida drew inspiration from his own favorite simple pleasure – the serenity of nature.
“Yoshida’s consummate artistry is evident in Clarence House’s beautiful decorative fabrics, some of which I have in my own home,” describes Aerin Lauder, Senior Vice President, Creative Director, Estée Lauder. “Yoshida’s designs are elegant, luxurious and timeless. His interpretation of pleasures truly captures life’s simple pleasures.”
Work of Art
Inspired by the little pleasures he finds in nature, Yoshida transformed the limited-edition pleasures bottle and candle into whimsical works of art that transports the senses to nature in the most fanciful way…a feminine interpretation of a blooming garden. The delicate detail of the artwork draws the eye to each colorful flower, fluttering butterfly and fanciful dragonfly set upon the softly opaque backdrop of the bottle.
This limited edition pleasures artist edition bottle is an original piece by Yoshida created exclusively for pleasures. Each bottle carries his signature and is accompanied by a charming decorative box, as well as a leaflet featuring Yoshida’s artwork, his vision of pleasures and a mini-biography.
About the Artist: Kazumi Yoshida
Kazumi Yoshida – artist and Executive Vice President of the trend-setting Clarence House fabrics and wallpapers – has for over 25 years used his eye and taste to create the
most original and luxurious fabrics in the world. His quick and nimble drawing hand has designed many grand-luxe textiles that are used by premier interior designers and architects around the world.
A trained painter from Japan, Yoshida came to New York in the late 1970’s to learn English and study art and design. Robin Roberts, founder of Clarence House, recognized his unique talent and hired him fulltime after he worked on some freelance designs. Today, he oversees more than 300 new fabric, wallpaper and passementerie product introductions annually. As an artist, Yoshida’s creativity is drawn from the world around him and he can be inspired by everything from a restaurant menu to a piece of New York City ironwork – both of which led to best selling fabric designs.
Experience pleasures Anew
Estée Lauder pleasures opened up a whole new category in perfumery at the time of its launch. This sheer floral scent perfectly captured the modern taste for light, airy fragrances balanced with presence and depth. Like fresh flowers after rainfall, the clear dewy top notes blend pure white lilies and fresh violet leaves uplifted by watery green accents.
The body of the fragrance reveals black lilies, white peonies, pink roses, karo karounde blossoms and the exotic spiciness of Baie Rose – a rare, intriguing ingredient used for the first time with the creation of pleasures. This exclusive ingredient was obtained by utilizing CO2 extraction technology to extract a purer essential oil with more clarity – a method which had never before been used in fragrance development. The drydown is warm and inviting, blending soft touches of patchouli and sandalwood. This botanical blend delights all your senses; all the time.
