eSys Technologies, the fastest growing IT component distribution network in the world, has announced that it has achieved the prestigious ISO 9001:2000 certification, the International Quality Management System requirements standard for businesses.
eSys was awarded the certification by the Chamber Certification Assessment Services Ltd (CCAS) for meeting stringent International Quality Management System requirements, following a comprehensive audit of the company’s supply, assembly and computer parts installation processes. According to the external auditors, the Root Cause Analysis system at eSys’ PC assembly division was in line with high international standards. Root Cause Analysis is a process improvement and defect prevention tool that examines the individual processes within a system, identifies the control or decision points, and uses a series of questions to determine the reasons for variations in the process paths.
“The ISO certification is a recognition of our strong customer focus and demonstrates our willingness to maintain the greatest level of excellence to support customer needs,” said Pavan Gupta, Director, Europe, Middle East and Africa, eSys Technologies. “At the same time, we believe quality is an ongoing process rather than a definite target, and we take this opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to the continual improvement of all business processes to further enhance overall standards.”
eSys has been meticulous in ensuring high quality standards across operational areas. It is one of the few companies in the region to adopt international ESD (Electro-Static Discharge) protection standards to prevent any occurrence of the ESD phenomena at PC Integration shop floor, which could destroy semiconductor products and affect the quality of the PCs adversely. eSys had these standards and controls in place during the setting up of its manufacturing plant in Jebel Ali.
Likewise, eSys’ Jebel Ali plant maintains RoHS standards for all products shipped to the European market. The RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) directive refers to a European Union legislation that bans the placing on the EU market of electrical and electronic equipment containing hazardous substances. The Jebel Ali plant also boasts an automated and programmable conveyor which is one of the first in the Middle East.
ISO 9001:2000 applies to organizations involved in the design and development, manufacturing, installation, and servicing of products. To be certified to the standard, companies must implement a comprehensive quality management system that addresses all areas of operation - from internal staff training practices to product design, manufacturing, delivery, and service.
