Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah consulted Sunday with EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana on the flurry of diplomatic activity to end over 20 months of regional violence.

The meeting discussed the "situation in the Middle East and the occupied Arab territories and the developments on the Palestinian scene," SPA reported.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal also attended the session, which took place in Jeddah.

Solana has been touring the Middle East region since Tuesday, with stops in Lebanon, Israel, the Palestinian territories and Egypt, in a quest to bring about this summer a Middle East peace conference, which is championed by the United States, European Union, United Nations and Russia.
