ALBAWABA - In a move expressing Israeli dissatisfaction with their government's handling of the Hamas hostages, many families have issued foreign passports for their relatives to seek assistance from other nations in an effort to secure the release of the hostages.

On Wednesday, the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation reported that several families have already taken this action, while others are in the process of doing so. Additionally, it was noted that approximately 240 individuals who are currently detained in the Gaza Strip hold foreign passports from 30 different countries.

According to the Israeli authorities, the relatives of the hostages believe that having dual citizenship may help soften Hamas's stance regarding their families and eventually lead to their release.

Obtaining a foreign passport is often viewed as a straightforward task for Israelis, as their lack of a distinct origin leaves them cultureless, with a heritage fragmented across various regions.

Thousands of Israelis participated in a demonstration to pressure the Israeli government to find a way to release hostages taken by the Hamas military group on Oct. 7 during the Al-Aqsa Flood operation.

Protesters called for the resignation of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, blaming him for being "responsible" and " incriminated" for the situation.
