‘fdi dubai 2007’ has many firsts to its credit
Specialized lectures and live telecast of dental surgery
from Germany makes fdi Dubai Congress truly unique
fdi Dubai 2007 – the Annual World Dental Congress and Exhibition – is unique in more ways than one with a number of firsts to its credit, be it specialized lectures to live telecast of a dental surgery to the unveiling of a FDI Dental Ethics Manual.
The Congress, which started today (October 24) and continues till 27th, encompasses a series of first-of-its-kind specialized lectures and forums aimed at promoting the interchange of ideas from the global dental fraternity on a defined theme.
The lectures will each focus on a specific facet of dentistry ranging from Quality Assurance to Oral Health and is open to all registered fdi Dubai 2007 delegates. These forums will be held in specified eight rooms at the Dubai International Conference and Exhibition Centre (DICC).
In order to facilitate the interface and interchange of ideas, the organisers have also earmarked a central hall – Al Mutlaq – which has been equipped with live television screens broadcasting the lectures under way in each of the eight rooms. This interface, another first-of-its-kind for fdi Congresses, will facilitate exchange of information where delegates can skip, switch on to each of the specialized lectures.
According to FDI World Dental Federation sources, the state-of-the-art meeting rooms and exhibition halls as well as the impressive infrastructure at DICC have enabled them to offer a wealth of services for Congress participants.
In yet another first, fdi Dubai 2007 has taken technology to a new level by presenting a live telecast of a dental surgery to be performed in Germany. The surgery, focusing on the current concepts in accelerated implant treatment and bone grafting, was presented live on October 24 between 1.30pm and 5pm.
At fdi Dubai 2007, the FDI World Dental Federation issued its first FDI Dental Ethics Manual, which is part of the federation’s efforts and mission to advance and promote the ethics, art, science and practice of dentistry.
The manual emphasises the importance of professional ethics and the need for ethical values as a part of dental education curriculum. The manual acts as a textbook for both graduate and post-graduate dental programmes and is a veritable resource guide for dental professionals.
Another point is the exhibition size, which is one of the biggest in the FDI congresses history.
