ALBAWABA - A fire erupted on New York City's Brooklyn Bridge during a fireworks display on U.S. Independence Day, known as the 4th of July.

Videos were posted online showing a blaze and smoke rising into the sky from sections of the iconic bridge as fireworks were spotted over the East River Saturday night.

American authorities said that firefighters and police rushed to the scene but did not announce the extent of the damage to the bridge.

The incident occurred during Macy’s annual Independence Day fireworks show as the country marked the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

The blaze was put out with two engines, according to the FDNY.
