The first agadir member states investment forum business networking opportunities with the eu
This Forum will take place in Brussels on 8 April 2008. It is organized upon initiative of the Agadir Technical Unit. The Forum is expected to enable the decision makers of the four countries, representatives of the European institutions and major umbrella organizations of European businessmen to get better acquainted with the legal framework and policies that encourage partnership, joint ventures and investment in the Agadir member states.

Together with the Executive Director to Agadir Technical Unit, Mr. Ferid Tounsi, the European Commission Head of the Delegation, Ambassador Patrick Renauld hosted a press conference on Tuesday March 25, 2008 - at the EC Delegation premises- with the participation of the Ambassadors of the three state-parties to the Agadir agreement; Ambassador of Egypt H.E. Mr. Ahmad Rizek, Ambassador of Tunis H.E. Mr. Salah Eddin Al-Jammaly, Ambassador of Morocco H.E. Mr. Mohammad Ma'Alanain.
Context:
The reason behind holding this press conference was to provide information about the First Agadir Member States Investment Forum, and answer the questions of media outlets representatives on the different perspectives the Forum is expected to launch. The Agadir Agreement is considered as a major step in the Euro-Med economic integration process and as a response to the Barcelona process which aims at supporting the economic development within the South-Mediterranean region.
- This Forum comes within the framework of the implementation of the objectives set out in the Agadir Agreement particularly: promoting and accelerating Foreign Direct Investments especially European investments to the Agadir region
- it also represents an opportunity for creating awareness of the legal framework and policies aiming at enhancing investment in the Agadir Countries for European investors, businessmen and financial organizations since the European Union is considered the primary trade partner of the Agadir countries.
- It is an opportunity to strengthen ties between representatives of the European private sector and their Agadir counterparts to look into further opportunities for partnership and economic integration.

Who is attending?
The forum will be honored by the presence of the concerned ministers from the four member countries as well as the European Commissioner for Trade and High ranking officials from the European Commission, the European Parliament, the European Economic and Social Committee, the European Investment bank in addition to the private sector of Both the European Union and the Agadir Agreement countries.
Background
The Agadir Technical Unit, established under the "Arab Mediterranean Free Trade Agreement" and which includes Egypt, Tunisia, Jordan and Morocco organizes the "First Agadir Member States Investment Forum" to be held in Brussels on the 8th of April 2008 in cooperation with the European Commission and in coordination with the European Parliament, the European Economic and Social Committee, the European Investment bank and the four countries concerned.
This Forum creates an important opportunity for major players and decision makers in the Agadir member states to meet and discuss the best methods possible in making the Agadir region attractive destination for European investments as well as directing investments towards joint projects aiming at industrial integration between the Agadir countries.
During the Forum, there will be a presentation of the investment opportunities available in the four countries concerned as well as the legal framework, investment enhancement policies and economic reform programs conducted within the Agadir region.
