First Int'l Congress on Bio-Ethics opens in Tehran

The First International Congress on Biology Ethics opened in Tehran on Saturday by an inaugural speech of President Mohammad Khatami.

 

The congress is co-sponsored by the UN Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Iran's Ministry of Science, Research and Technology and the Health Ministry as well as the National Genetics Engineering, Biology and Technology Research Center, as well as Tehran University's Ethics and Medical History Research Organization, <i>IRNA</i> said.

 

Around 600 university professors, researchers and scientists from 18 countries are attending the three-day congress.

 

The UNESCO experts are to address the congress, during which 92 articles by Iranian and foreign experts will also be read out. UNESCO Director General K. Matsuura will also address the congress. Exchange of scientific and research experiences is the main objective of the congress.
