First Lady Stresses Importance Of Girls Education

The first lady, Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak presided over the meeting organized by the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood (NCCM) and in cooperation with the UN and the UNICEF to put a national plan for girls' education in Egypt to be integrated in the new five-year plan of the state 2002/2007. Mrs. Mubarak outlined the priorities of the national work in the field of fighting illiteracy. 

 

Mubarak stressed that investing in education is in first place an issue that is related with the society stability and security. 

 

For his part, Egypt’s Minister of Education Hussein Kamel Baha'a Eddin said that thanks to the project of the one-class schools, called on by Mrs. Mubarak in 1993, the problem of education dropout was handled in a scientific way pointing out that that the number of the one-class school hit now 2612 schools. 

 

Baha'a Eddin added statistics prepared by the ministry of education stressed that the rate of dropouts at the primary stage of education hit 0.87 per cent and 3.14 per cent at the preparatory stage. (Albawaba.com)
