Five Palestinians were injured, one critically, during a demonstration on Monday in the Gaza Strip as near-daily clashes continue in the besieged enclave.
The clashes broke out in Beit Hanoun when dozens of Palestinian youths demonstrated against the ongoing Israeli violations in occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank.
Witnesses said that Israeli forces opened fire at the demonstration from military towers injuring five, one critically.
On demonstrator was detained.
An Israeli army spokesperson told Ma'an that "hundreds of rioters gathered near the border fence hurling rocks and rolling burning tires." They said that Israeli forces responded with "riot-dispersal means," but were unable to give further details regarding what means were used.
On Sunday, a pregnant woman and her two-year-old daughter were killed when an Israeli air strike caused their home to collapse in southern Gaza City.
The Israeli army said in a statement that the air strikes targeted "two Hamas weapon manufacturing facilities in the northern Gaza Strip" and made no mention of any deaths or damage to civilian homes.
The strikes were reportedly carried out in retaliation for a rocket fired from the blockaded coastal enclave late on Saturday night.
Nine Palestinians have been shot dead during demonstrations in the besieged enclave since Oct. 9 including two Palestinian boys, aged 13 and 15, who were shot dead during a rally in Khan Younis.
