Four alleged Al Qaeda operatives were killed in their vehicle on Tuesday by a U.S. drone strike in Yemen, a tribal source told AFP.
One of the killed suspects was Saleh al-Tays al-Waeli, who appeared on a list of 25 Al Qaeda members who, according to Yemeni officials, planned terrorist attacks for the beginning of Eid al-Fitr, the holiday marking the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, reported AFP.
The drone strike comes amid the temporary closing of more than 20 U.S. embassies across the Middle East, after U.S. intelligence services was intercepted communication between Ayman al-Zawahiri, chief of Al Qaeda, and Nasser al-Wuhayshi, head of al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, which suggested attacks could take place beginning Sunday, August 4, according to The New York Times.
