Four Iranians were hanged for murder on Wednesday inside Tehran's Qasr prison, Noruz paper reported Thursday, cited by AFP.
Rashid Houshmani-Rad, Ehsan Kahed, Mohammad Noushin and Mohammad Lameie were executed in the presence of their victims' families.
According to the report, 14 others found guilty of murder, armed robberies and drug trafficking are expected to be hanged next week.
One of them, Ahmad Dolatyari, nicknamed "Ahmad Russian," was arrested after escaping from prison in 2000. He will be hanged in public on Sunday in southern Tehran.
Iran's "eye for an eye" law, in force since the Islamic Revolution of 1979, stipulates capital punishment for rape, stealing weapons, drug trafficking and murder, but provides for sentences to be commuted to a prison term if the family of the victim offers a pardon. (Albawaba.com)
