Four Palestinians were injured late Sunday as clashes broke out in and around East Jerusalem's Old City, witnesses said.
Locals told Ma'an that Israeli forces fired stun grenades at a group of men near Damascus Gate. The incident sparked clashes which extended inside the Old City and coincided with worshipers leaving the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Israeli forces then fired tear gas canisters, rubber-coated steel bullets and skunk spray at locals, hitting one young man above his left eye with a steel bullet.
Three other men were injured by shrapnel from stun grenades and were treated by medics at the scene.
Israeli forces detained one unidentified Palestinian man during the clashes.
Meanwhile, Israeli forces raided the al-Issawiya neighborhood after Palestinian youths, allegdely, threw a firebomb at a police patrol.
East Jerusalem is internationally recognized as Palestinian territory, but Israel occupied it in 1967 and later annexed it in a move never considered legitimate abroad.
More than 500,000 Israeli settlers live in settlements across the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, in contravention of international law.
