The Fourth Seafood & Seafood Processing Expo 2010 opens in the Middle East today

The fourth annual Seafood & Seafood Processing Expo 2010, a one-of-a-kind exhibition in the Middle East, opened today at the Al Bustan Rotana Convention Centre, Dubai. The exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. Mariam Al Shenasi, Executive Director for Technical Affairs at the Ministry of Environment and Water. The event was also attended by dignitaries from the different ministries across related industries. The three-day exhibition will conclude on October 27, 2010.

Organized by Orange Fairs and Events, a leading Dubai-based organization that provides events related services globally and in the Middle East market, the exhibition brings a wide spectrum of regional and global organizations within the seafood market under one roof. The fourth edition of the annual seafood exhibition promises to be an endorsement of the growth being witnessed by the country's seafood industry.

This year's Expo has seen a record 140 participants from as many as 20 countries.

Speaking at the inauguration, Mr. Raees Ahmed, Director, Orange Fairs and Events, said: "The Seafood Expo 2010, in all its previous editions, has offered a highly productive ground to the industry to interact and grow within the region and globally. This year also, promises to be very exciting for the participating companies and the industry at large. The region is a powerhouse in the seafood industry of the world, and Dubai is considered among the most advantageous platforms for business and development today, owing to its geographical location, astute planning and strategic growth."

"The exhibition will be a testimony of the current state of the industry and the forecasted trends. We have witnessed an escalating response from the participants and visitors to the seafood exhibition every year. This year, the number of companies participating from across the world has

increased significantly. This growing interest among the industries in the expo stands as an endorsement of the success and output of the event. The interest and support shown by the various ministries also stands as an acknowledgement of the expo's success," he added.

The Fourth Seafood & Seafood Processing Expo 2010 will be host to the seafood industries from across the world. Six countries, namely Vietnam, Malaysia, China, Indonesia, Thailand and India have set up special country pavilions at this year's event. In addition to welcoming some of the UAE's largest seafood companies, many International government departments and agencies are also present at the event.

Amongst the major exhibitors who have confirmed participation at the Seafood Expo 2010 include China Aquatic Products Processing & Marketing Association; MINISTRY OF MARINE AFFAIRS & FISHERIES - REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA; Fisheries Development Authority - Malaysia, MARINE PRODUCTS EXPORT DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY-INDIA, Department of Fisheries – Thailand, The United Republic of Tanzania.

Amongst the UAE companies that have confirmed participation include MAGENTAS, Ocean Fisheries, East Fish Processing, International Food Trading, and Porche General Trading LLC.

At least 5000 trade visitors are expected to attend expo this year.
