ALBAWABA - French far-right politician Jean-Marie Le Pen dies aged 96, AFP news agency reported on Tuesday citing the leader's family.
Le Pen was transferred to the hospital earlier with suspected heart problems. His family confirmed that the French politician passed away on Tuesday and was "surrounded by his loved ones".
Jean-Marie Le Pen, who was a member of the European Parliament, served as president of the National Front from 1972 to 2011 and Honorary President of the same party from 2011 to 2015.
The Guardian reported that the French politician along with his daughter "Marine Le Pen" were under investigation amid accusations that they along with other members of the National Rally party allegedly embezzled money from the EU parliament with fake jobs.
However, the British media website added that the court excused Jean-Marie Le Pen from attending sessions over his bad health condition.
