french plastic technology firms will be exhibiting at k 2007 with ubifrance düsseldorf – october 2007
Around fifty French companies, gathered under the 700 m² of the Ubifrance pavilion will be exhibiting at K 2007 in halls 3 and 5, in partnership with the Plastipolis Competitiveness Cluster, the Pôle européen de plasturgie and Plastique Vallée. This trade show, a key international event for the plastics industry, is scheduled from 24th to 31st October 2007 in Düsseldorf.
The competitiveness of French plastics technology is based on a highly structured industry, which stands out from the competition of low-cost producing countries by its added value and its strong focus on services. In addition to very high-tech sectors such as packaging (bottle caps and oversealing caps in particular) and technical components for the car and aeronautic industries, the organisers of the Ubifrance (French Agency for International Business Development) pavilion will do their best to advertise the wide ranging know-how of French companies, covering the whole plastics industry.
With a turnover of nearly 30 billion Euros in 2006, France can boast many strong points in this sector. Second in Europe behind Germany, the French plastics industry accounts for 3,800 companies employing a total workforce of around 156,000 employees. Its exports, standing close to 7 billion Euros, have increased by 8% while its imports, 9 billion Euros, have increased by 7.2%.
The PLASTIPOLIS Competitiveness Cluster, a partner to the French Pavilion set up by Ubifrance, includes 1/3 of the plastics industry in France. A unique centre for plastics technology in France, PLASTIPOLIS gathers expertise from all fields of the industry: 20 R&D centres, 15 training centres, more than 120 companies, etc. PLASTIPOLIS is also currently developing network opportunities and cooperative agreements with several other French, European and international clusters.
Competitiveness clusters are a new tool of the French industrial policy. Their structure aims at ensuring international visibility, they contribute to reinforcing the competitiveness of the economy by focusing on innovation and research & development
