Dubai, UAE. BMW Group Middle East is set to launch on the 1st of September, for the first time in the region, the MINI Film Festival 2006, a short film competition aimed at encouraging and developing the blossoming regional film community. Submissions of entries should take place latest by November 1st 2006.
Amateur filmmakers from the region will be asked to submit short films of up to 15 minutes in length, incorporating the ‘Always Open’ theme. Judges will be looking for compelling storytelling first and foremost – it will be up to avid young and young at heart directors to decide on the format of their films which could include live action, animation, computer graphics or hybrid forays into short-form.
“The MINI Film Festival 2006 is a great way for us to reach out to the burgeoning film community within the Middle East, and offer our support for enhancing the region’s growing reputation as a vital emerging film hub,” said Guenther Seemann, Managing Director, BMW Group Middle East.
“The MINI brand has launched several amateur film festivals and partnered with international events across the world. We are excited to launch here in the Middle East a unique concept that will further contribute to strengthening the cultural scene in the region”, added Seemann.
The MINI Film Festival 2006 will be officially launched at the beginning of September of this year with submission for entries opening. More information is available through the MINI website www.MINI-me.com.
