Galileo Named ‘Best GDS’ Asia For Second Year Running
Galileo, part of Travelport GDS, scoops up Travelweekly’s coveted ‘Best GDS Asia’ award
Galileo, part of Travelport GDS, one of the world’s leading global distribution system (GDS) providers, has been awarded “Best GDS Asia” for the second consecutive year at Travelweekly Asia’s 2008 Industry Awards. Held on 17 July at the Marriott Hotel in Singapore, the awards ceremony recognised Galileo as the leading GDS technology provider in the booming Asian travel sector.
Mr Simon Nowroz, managing director of Travelport GDS, Asia commented, “My thanks go to our agency, TMC and supplier customers for their loyal support. He continued, “In the APAC region, Galileo has also recently been named finalist in the Best Agency Support Service category at AFTA’s National Travel Industry Awards, Australia as well as receiving the Best e-Tour Solution Award from Seoul Tourism.”
The judges commended Travelport GDS for delivering innovative, world class solutions that have enabled its customers to stay competitive in the rapidly expanding Asia Pacific region. Travelport GDS’ developments this year have included signing full content agreements with Nok Air, Lufthansa and SWISS airlines as well as acquiring software assets from G2 SwitchWorks Corp. for the development of the industry’s first comprehensive, fully-integrated desktop solution due to be released in early 2009.
