Israeli troops shot and killed two Palestinians who were crawling near the security fence separating the Gaza Strip from Israel on Friday night, the military said. The two had "the apparent intention of placing an explosive charge", said the Israeli spokesman.
Meanwhile, an Arabic newspaper said Israel is planning to launch a major military incursion into the Gaza Strip after the US-sponsored Mideast conference in Annapolis. According to the London-based daily al-Quds al-Arabi, Israel believes it will not reach a peace deal with Palestinian Authority leader, Mahmud Abbas at the Annapolis Conference, scheduled for November 26, and has told a number of Arab states that it intended to launch a massive military operation in the Gaza Strip.
The incursion would be aimed at taking the control of the Philadelphi Corridor that Israel claims is used for the transfer of arms and from Egypt, according to the newspaper.
