A joint committee from the United States and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) will convene in Washington in September during which both sides will announce the establishment of a business forum that would serve as a permanent channel for facilitating trade and investment between the two sides, reported the Gulf Daily.

The Daily said that the project topped the agenda of talks between a US businessmen delegation and the GCC in Manama.

The GCC side was led Bahrain’s Industry secretary general Osama Al Kurdi, while the US delegation was headed by John Pratt, chairman of the American Business Council in the Gulf Countries.

The dialogue between the private sectors is part of the official GCC-US Economic Dialogue, which incorporates both the government and the private sectors.

US investment in the Gulf countries exceeds $5b, while GCC investment in the US is estimated at $3b, said the paper – Albawaba.com
