The Gulf Education and Training Exhibition (GETEX) Dubai 2007, the Middle East’s leading education exhibition, was inaugurated today (Wednesday, 11th April 2007) by Dr. Saeed Ahmad AL Hassani, Under Secretary Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The exhibition, being held in Halls Zaabeel 1 and Hall 2 of the Dubai International Exhibition Centre from April 11th to 14th 2007, offers a one stop platform for education providers, vocational training programs and didactic technology vendors to liaise and network with students, investors and professionals.

The 2007 edition of GETEX has introduced a brand new series of interactive workshops termed “Meet the Career Gurus,” and has announced that the event will be expanded into a full “Careers” segment from GETEX 2008 onwards. The workshops facilitate students in sourcing practical guidance for career planning, by offering them a chance to interview nine successful business people and entrepreneurs to pick up tips and tricks of the trade.

“Our market research indicates that students and professionals alike would want a chance to pick up pointers from established industry leaders. The “Meet the Career Gurus” offers an ideal opportunity to interact with icons who can contribute a wealth of experience to young people starting out. From 2008 onwards, the GETEX Careers segment will host not only counselling sessions, but also an extended line-up pf private and public sector organizations inviting résumés form the multi-national group of visitors present at the show”, commented Anselm Godinho, Managing Director, IC&E, organizers of the show.

In addition, GETEX 2007 is hosting three segments- the Academic and Students Recruitment segment that is showcasing an array of diverse international study options; the Technology and Didactic Materials segment (Gulf Education & Training Equipment & Technology) that is offering didactic technology providers a platform to showcase learning technology to regional investors; and the Corporate Training & Human Resource Development segment that is providing tailored training and human resource development programmes.

GETEX’s Student Recruitment segment has attracted 300 plus universities and academic institutions worldwide, including the recently opened Université Paris Sorbonne- Abu Dhabi, to showcase academic options relevant to regional students opting for higher education.

The 19th edition of GETEX has revived its well-received GETEX Concurrent Conference series that will host discussion on issues of workplace learning, knowledge management, diversity in the workplace and other related topics.

“GETEX has established itself as a premier calendar event that brings academic service providers and students looking for topical educational options under the same roof. The 2007 show is hosting over 500 exhibitors with a number of first-timer additions plus a very high repeat percent to collectively offer its most comprehensive spectrum of pedagogical options yet,” concluded Godinho.
