As part of its ongoing efforts to add color and character to Amman, the Greater Amman Municipality, in cooperation with National Paints, has launched a renovation initiative in Eastern Amman.
The initiative involves the re-painting, in different earth tones, of homes and buildings located in the poorer districts of the East Amman area and especially those homes located near the Greater Amman Municipality headquarters and surrounding streets. The intended effect is one that is clean, easy on the eyes and harmonious with the surrounding landscape.
Paint supplies, project execution and needed materials worth JD 100,000, will be provided by National Paints, a leading provider of decorative, industrial and marine yacht paints in both Jordan and the region at large, and the leading sponsor of this project. The actual re-painting effort will be executed by GAM employees as well as a team of volunteer university students, all under the supervision of GAM engineers and paint experts from National Paints.

The students who come from different public universities across the Kingdom will be invited by GAM to dedicate both their time and their energy to this cause, in an effort to encourage community engagement.
This project is only one of the many initiatives created by the Greater Amman Municipality focused on preserving the city's rich cultural heritage and character.
Commenting on the initiative, His Excellency Mr. Omar Maani, Mayor of Amman, said, “The eastern part of the capital is the oldest part of the city. It is also the part that is in most need of renovation. Through this project we are not only hoping to improve the landscape of Eastern Amman, but we are also hoping to encourage social engagement, and to expose the local community to an esthetically pleasing surrounding. On this occasion, I thank both National Paints and all the volunteering students who will take part in this project, for it is their spirit and commitments that will make the city of Amman stand out. We at the Municipality are happy to be working side by side with a leading company in its field like National Paints, and I am sure that with the support of all parties taking part in this project, we can only look forward to a very positive outcome.”
From his end, Mr. Michael Al-Sayegh, Chairman of National Paints, said, “We are proud to be working with the Greater Amman Municipality on this project, for we at the firm have the highest level of admiration for all what the Municipality does to secure a better quality of life and standard of living for the city’s residents. Amman enjoys a central geographical location and with this location comes a responsibility thrown upon the shoulders of its residents to make it beautiful. The city should be seen as a center rich with cultural heritage, unique and beautiful in both in the eyes of its people and its visitors. In this regard, we feel that the Municipality is fulfilling its role as a leading promoter of culture, preserver of heritage, and as an implementer of quality projects. With GAM’s impressive track record, we can only say that we are honored to be working by its side.
We will spare no effort in putting over 40 years of expertise in the field of paint development at GAM's disposal. These include decorative, industrial, and protective paints, as well as powder coatings marine and automotive paints. Our products have come to be known as the best in the Arab world and are ranked 23rd on the international scene. ”
It is important to note that the overall cost of this project is estimated at JD 300,000 including the cost of paint and primary material. Through its participation in this initiative, National Paints will be providing Weathershield Fine Textured paints. These paints are known for their water base quality, their self cleaning properties, their environmental friendliness, and their phenomenal thickness of only 0.5mm to 3mm. This phase is only the beginning of larger initiative that is aimed to cover different districts throughout the Kingdom in the future.
